1. Introduction

This document (hereinafter referred to as the "Notice") provides information about third-party software components, libraries, frameworks, and other materials (collectively, "Third-Party Components") that may be included in or distributed with the Zippy file versioning and backup software (the "Software"), developed by Maler Software S.R.L. (hereinafter "Zippy", "We", "Us", or "Our").

The Software utilizes various Third-Party Components, each of which is subject to its own distinct license terms, conditions, and notices ("Third-Party Licenses"). This Notice lists these components and provides references to their respective licenses. Your use of each Third-Party Component is governed by the terms of its applicable Third-Party License.

By using the Software, You acknowledge and agree to comply with the terms of all applicable Third-Party Licenses. This Notice is provided for informational purposes and forms part of Our legal agreement with You, which also includes Our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and Refund Policy.

The Third-Party Components are provided by their respective authors and licensors. Unless expressly stated otherwise in the applicable Third-Party License, these components are typically provided "AS IS," without any warranties, express or implied, from their original licensors or from Zippy. Please refer to the individual Third-Party Licenses for specific warranty disclaimers and limitations of liability applicable to each component.

2. LGPL compliance notice

This application, "Zippy", includes components that are licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) version 3.0.

Specifically, this application uses the PySide6 framework, which is an LGPL-licensed set of Python bindings for the Qt application framework. The PySide6 libraries are dynamically linked and are included in this distribution as shared libraries (.dll files or equivalent). These libraries are typically located in the same directory as the Zippy executable or in a designated library folder within the Zippy installation.

Under the LGPL v3 license, You have certain rights with respect to the LGPL-covered components, including (but not limited to):

  • The right to obtain the corresponding source code for the LGPL-covered components (including PySide6).
  • The right to modify the LGPL-covered components.
  • The right to replace or update the PySide6 shared libraries with compatible versions.
  • The right to redistribute PySide6 under the terms of the LGPL.

We have not modified PySide6 or its core dependencies that are also under LGPL or similar open-source licenses. All such components are used in their unmodified form, as distributed by The Qt Company and the PySide development team. For information on how to obtain the source code for PySide6, please refer to the official PySide or Qt project websites.

The remainder of the Zippy application, including all proprietary business logic, user interface design beyond what is provided by Qt/PySide6, and custom features developed by Maler Software S.R.L., is not covered by the LGPL or any of the other Third-Party Licenses listed in this document and remains the exclusive intellectual property of Maler Software S.R.L.. No source code for these proprietary parts of the Zippy Software is provided under this Notice, and reverse-engineering of Zippy's proprietary code is prohibited by Our Terms of Use, except as may be expressly permitted by applicable law.

This Notice may be made available in multiple languages for convenience. The Romanian language version of this Notice shall be the controlling and legally binding version. All other language versions are provided as translations for informational purposes only and shall have no legal effect. In the event of any inconsistency or discrepancy between the Romanian version and any translated version of this Notice, the Romanian version shall prevail.
