Zippy is available in two versions with identical core functionality. The free version provides a generous limit of 30 backups per project with no restrictions on the number of projects you can create, while including purchase reminders and support notifications. The licensed version enhances your experience with unlimited backups per project and no notifications, supports up to 5 PCs, and helps fund ongoing product development.

How do I start using Zippy?

To start using Zippy, install it on your Windows 10 or 11 system (x64 only). After installation, you can right-click in any folder and select "Start Zippy Here" from the context menu. The program will prompt you to enter a project name and automatically create a project folder named "project-name-zippy" (with "-zippy" appended). It will also create the essential "zippy.db" database file and a "backup-zippy" folder for storing backups. Zippy tracks all file changes within your project folder.

Where are backups saved?

Your backup data is securely stored locally in the "zippy.db" database and corresponding "backup-zippy" folder, which are created adjacent to your project. Since all backups are stored offline on your local system, your data remains entirely on your PC at all times. The database file is critical for operations and shouldn't be deleted. Each backup is organized in individual timestamped subfolders.

How do I restore previous versions?

Select any backup version from the "Restore" interface to revert your project. Ensure all files are closed before restoration. If errors occur, Zippy attempts automatic recovery using temporary backups and provides detailed failure reports.

Does Zippy require internet?

Zippy runs entirely on your local computer. Your files stay on your device for complete privacy and security. The app only connects to our servers during installation and uninstallation (to track the number of active installations) and for license validation, without sending any personal data.
